Day 31 – Orienting ourselves to Cahors and charging woes

A street in the ancien quartier

The car needed to be recharged.  My plan had always been to incorporate charging with doing other things.  I had found a charging station in the town via the internet and the navigation system.

We drove to the station and discovered that there were two chargers but one was occupied by a car charging and the other by a car that was not charging.  This car park was free and I suspect people gave no thought to those of us who might like to charge their cars.

We found a place to park and wandered down the main street. The town is in the bend of the Lot river where it almost comes back on itself.  Its claim to fame is the Valantre Bridge.  More on that later.

We went down to the Tourism Office where we got advice from a young woman about what we should visit.  It was useful and informative and gave us an overview of the Vallee du Lot.

The car still needed charging and so we went for a little drive to find one I had identified as being a fast charger.  I went to the wrong one first and then we found the fast charger in an area with big box stores and supermarkets.  Then came the trial and error of being able to get it charging the car.  They don’t make it easy for casual users. The screens were almost unreadable in the sunlight.  In the end we got it charging and began a relationship with that charger over the next week.

A couple of sculpures that are a part of an exhibition in the town
